Happiness and All the Other Things (Review)

The last album released from Cross Canadian Ragweed was Happiness and All the Other Things, which is their 10th album that marks their 15th anniversary. This album to long time Ragweed fans, well it sounds a little different, it doesn't sound like any of their previous albums, and it's a far cry from their first studio album "Carney", BUT even with that said, the new sound on this album is great, especially on tracks like "51 Pieces" and "Burn Like the Sun", which have a rock'n'roll roadhouse country feel, and then there is the upbeat hard hitting straight rock of "Overtable" which is part of the "Trifecta": "Overtable", "Overtable Interlude", & "Pretty Lady"(a tribute to the late Bettie Page). Then there is the dark country with "Kick in the Head", "Confident" and "Tomorrow" that have a kind of depressed yet somewhat upbeat feel. Then there is my personal favorite song on the album "Drag", which lead singer Cody Canada describes as "A song for people who can't keep their nose in their own business". The limited edition 15th anniversary version contains three extra live tracks. "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" is the first live track, it is a cover of a Willie Nelson song and is dedicated to Poodie Locke the long time road manager of Willie Nelson who died 3 months before the release of the album. "Soul Agent" is the next live track, which was released as on the "Mission California" album in 2007, this is sang by bass player Jeremy Plato. The last live track is "Train to Birmingham" which is a cover of a Kevin Welch song from the 90's.
Over all this album has a different sound compared to the previous Ragweed albums but I strongly recommend that you listen to it, even if you have no clue who this band is.

New Blog

This is my new blog I really have no clue what I'm going to do with it yet. Probably something with music, like album reviews.
